What a dissappointment..FOR AFASTAfter using the Barron's ASVAB, I expected this one to follow suit and be fairly top notch. I don't know what happened. I don't know what the editor's were doing, but avoid this like the plague. It looks good on the surface, the quality of illustrations, etc. Cyclic orientation give me a break! I thought I was going crazy cause I was getting so many wrong, but I would look at the question again and think to myself "yeah that's diving left bank in a parrallel universe". Instrument comprehension same thing complete gimble failure apparently. It's so terrible I feel sorry for anyone without flight experience trying to make sense of this book. So yeah this one was terrible. Better off with Peterson's at least it's test questions are not from another dimension.
BURN THIS BOOKDO NOT TRUST BARRON'S!!! I have found multiple math mistakes in this book and another from Barron's intended to help study for the ASTB. Barron's knows full well about the mistakes yet unapologetically allows these books to continue to sell and potentially ruin peoples careers.
A good study guideThis book is a good all-around guide to all of the different military services' flight aptitude tests. It includes a couple practice tests for each of the services, as well as a lot of general study material like a re-introduction to some important math and vocabulary. My only complaint is that I wish they would sell different books for each service, so that I could do more practice tests for my particular service, and not get mixed up with trying to learn material that might not even be on my service's test. Personally, however, I like this book much more than the ARCO book.
dated with mistakesI bought this book for the U.S. Army test. This book needs an update and revision. I found several wrong answers from the sample tests. Also, the book needs to be re-written to account for changes in testing.
Misleading for the AFASTI bought this book to help me study for the AFAST. After spending quite a bit of time studying the practice tests, several of the answers they provided didn't seem correct. After taking my book in to a pilot who has been helping me with my packet, we came to the conclusion the book had quite a few missed answers. The book is good for something to practice with, but the answers they provide are not completely accurate. It does have good general information that did help, but dont use this as a sole resource for studying. Its better for just getting to know the format of the test.
